Nitrendipine (CAS: 39562-70-4, EINECS: 254-513-1), also known as Bayotensin and Baypress, is a yellow-to-green powdery dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker API with molecular formula C₁₈H₂₀N₂O₆ and molecular weight of 360.36. It melts at 158°C, with an estimated boiling point of 492.4°C and density of 1.3595. This compound is insoluble in water, soluble in methanol (15 mg/mL), DMSO (17.5 mg/mL), ethanol and ethyl acetate, with a predicted pKa value of 2.79±0.70. Solid nitrendipine requires refrigerated storage at 2–8°C away from light; its DMSO or ethanol solutions can be preserved for up to one week under -20°C. It is supplied as bulk antihypertensive raw material and impurity reference standard (Lercanidipine Impurity 5) with purity ≥95%, widely used for cardiovascular drug manufacturing and pharmaceutical quality control analysis.
