Valacyclovir hydrochloride
China [CN] Valacyclovir hydrochloride (CAS: 124832-27-5, EINECS: 641-092-8), also sold under brand name Valtrex, is a white hygroscopic solid antiviral small-molecule API. Its molecular formula is C₁₃H₂₀N₆O₄·HCl with molecular weight of 360.8, melting point ranging from 170–172°C. It exhibits excellent water solubility exceeding 20 mg/mL, with maximum UV absorption wavelength at 253 nm in aqueous solution. Due to its hygroscopic property, this compound must be hermetically sealed, protected from light and stored frozen below -20°C. As the L-valine ester prodrug of acyclovir, it is widely supplied as bulk pharmaceutical raw material, lab reference standards and testing reagents for antiviral drug production and pharmaceutical quality control research.
