Diprophylline, also known as 7-(2,3-Dihydroxypropyl)-1,3-dimethylxanthine or Neothylline, has CAS No. 479-18-5 and EINECS No. 207-526-1, with molecular formula C₁₀H₁₄N₄O₄ and molecular weight of 254.24. It is a white hygroscopic powder with melting point ranging from 161 to 162°C, estimated boiling point 397.46°C, density 1.3036 and refractive index 1.6200, with predicted pKa value of 13.74±0.20. This xanthine derivative dissolves freely in water at 33 g/100 mL under 25°C and slightly soluble in 96% ethanol. It must be stored in dark environments under inert atmosphere at room temperature to avoid moisture absorption, marked with Merck number 14,3479 and BRN 284563. As a classic bronchodilator pharmaceutical raw material, it also serves as skin conditioning cosmetic ingredient, laboratory standard reference substance and fine chemical intermediate for xanthine derivative synthesis research.
