Norfloxacin Nicotinate, also known as Nicotinic Acid Norfloxacin, bears CAS No. 118803-81-9 and EINECS No. 229-337-3, with nicotinic acid fragment molecular formula C₁₀H₇NO₂ and molecular weight 173.17. It is a white to pale yellow crystalline solid with melting point of 277–280°C, slightly soluble in DMSO and water, complete structural identifiers including InChl, InChlKey and SMILES are available for lab identification. Strict storage under inert nitrogen or argon atmosphere at 2–8°C is required to maintain stability. As a third-generation quinolone veterinary antibacterial API, it features broad and potent bactericidal activity, showing strong inhibition against Gram-negative bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella, Pasteurella and Pseudomonas aeruginosa with low MIC values, and no cross-resistance with other antibiotics. It is widely applied in veterinary injection formulations, animal disease treatment and pharmaceutical research of fluoroquinolone derivatives.
