Oxytetracycline hydrochloride
China [CN] Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride, also known as Oxytetracycline HCl, carries CAS No. 2058-46-0 with molecular formula C22H25ClN2O9 and molecular weight 496.89, EINECS number 218-161-2. It appears as pale yellow crystalline powder, melting at 180°C, featuring specific optical rotation ranging from -188 to -200° (c=1, 0.1mol/L HCl, dry basis). This product is highly water-soluble (over 100 g/L) and slightly soluble in 96% ethanol, with aqueous solution pH kept at 2.0–3.0 for 10g/L solution at 25°C. It is light-sensitive and hygroscopic, requiring sealed storage under 0–6°C to avoid precipitation and turbidity in standing aqueous solutions. Widely recognized by synonyms including Geomycin and Aquacycline, it is a broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic raw material, applicable for pharmaceutical standard reference, veterinary antibiotic formulation and related fine chemical research.
