Lanreotide is a somatostatin analog used to treat acromegaly (excess growth hormone) and neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). It works by reducing the release of certain hormones and slowing tumor growth. Given as a deep subcutaneous injection every 4 weeks, common side effects include diarrhea, abdominal pain, gallstones, and injection site reactions.
