Unique siderophore mechanism: binds Fe³⁺, enters Gram-negative bacteria via iron-transport systems, achieving high intracellular concentration.
Potent activity against multidrug-resistant (MDR) Gram-negative pathogens, including carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacterales.
Stable against most β‑lactamases.
Indications (for adults ≥18 years)
Complicated urinary tract infections (cUTI), including pyelonephritis
Hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia (HABP) and ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia (VABP)
Dosage: 2 g IV infusion over 3 hours, every 8 hours; 7–14 days.
