Chlorpheniramine maleate
China [CN] Chlorpheniramine, also known as chlorpheniramine, is a first-generation alkylamine antihistamine used to prevent allergic diseases such as rhinitis and urticaria. Its sedative effect is weaker than other first-generation antihistamines. Chlorpheniramine is one of the most commonly used antihistamines in veterinary medicine and small animals. Although not usually used as an antidepressant or antianxiety drug, chlorpheniramine appears to have these properties and is a drug used for allergic symptoms. It belongs to the first generation of histamine H1 receptor antagonists (also known as antihistamines) with a chemical formula of C16H19N2Cl. When producing drugs, its salt chlorpheniramine maleate is usually used. Chlorpheniramine is synthesized by alkylation of pyridine with 4-chlorobenzyl chloride.
