Detailed Description

There are many kinds of electric vehicles on the market. Is the cable used for charging also universal?

There are several different levels of electric vehicle charging, which are divided into 1-level charging, 2-level charging, DC fast charging, etc.according to the charging speed and charging voltage.Generally speaking, each level has a special connector type, 1-level and Level 2 charging has the same standard plug, but DC fast charging based on different brands requires a separate plug.

Level 1 charging (120 VAC)

A Level 1 charger uses a 120 volt AC plug, and it can be done with a Level 1 EV charging cable that has a standard three-prong household plug for the outlet on one end and a standard J1722 connector for the vehicle. It can be used for electric vehicle charging, but the charging speed generally takes 8 to 12 hours, and the charging speed is relatively slow.

Level 2 charging (240 VAC)

Level 2 charging is used for charging in public places and, in general, requires installation.Level 2 chargers supply power through a 240V AC plug and also charge slowly, typically taking anywhere from 1-11 hours, depending on the car battery capacity.

Level 3 charging (DC fast charging)

Level 3 charging is currently the fastest charging method.Level 3 chargers are also common in public areas. Not all cars can use Level 3 charging.Level 3 charging provides charging via a 480V AC or DC plug, usually using a CHAdeMO or CCS connector.

To sum up, not all charging cables are the same, and the level of charging that needs to be judged depends on your car.

When charging electric vehicles, pay attention to the number and frequency of charging to reduce unnecessary charging times, which can better protect the battery and prolong its service life.
