Detailed Description
It’s called simply as low frequency tags (LF), the operating frequency range is 30kHz ~ 300kHz. Typical operating frequencies are 125KHz, 133KHz (also it has other adjacent frequencies, such as TI to using 134.2KHz). Low-frequency tags are generally passive tags, and it obtained working energy from the radiation near field of reader’s coupling coil through the mode of inductive coupling. LF tag is requested to be within the near field region of reader antenna’s radiation when transferring data between LF tags and reader. The reading distance of LF tags is less than 1 meter generally. Typical applications of LF tags are: animal identification, container identification, tool identification, anti-theft electronic lock(car key with built-in transponder)etc. The related international standards are ISO11784/11785 (for animal identification), ISO18000-2 (125-135 kHz). LF tags has many different appearance shaps, its appearance for animal identification are: collar type, ear tag type, Injection type, pills type and so on. Typical applications for animals are cattle, pigeons etc. The main advantage of LF tags is embodied in: Tag chips use common CMOS process, which has feature of electricity-saving, low price; operating frequency is limited by radio frequency control; and it can penetrate water, organic tissue, wood etc; it’s very suitable for close-range, low speed, and fewer data’s identification(such as animal identification). Low-frequency tags disadvantage is mainly embodied in: small data storage, only for low-speed, close range identification; it has higher cost and more antenna turns comparing with high frequency tags. Generally, the operating frequency of mid and high frequency electronic tags is 3MHz ~ 30MHz. Typical operating frequency is 13.56MHz. The tags in this frequency channel should be classified into LF tags from RFID identification point of view, because its working principles are completely same as LF tags’, that use Using inductively coupled mode. On the other hand, according to the general classification of radio frequency, its working frequency channel calls high frequency, so it’s also called high frequency tags.
