Detailed Description
3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDT), CAS:126213-50-1, is monomer for the production of PEDOT conductive polymer coatings. Poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) is a kind of polymer that is insoluble in water. It has some interesting properties. For example, it has high conductivity (300 S/cm); it can form transparent film; it is not easy to be oxidated PEDT and its derivatives has excellent conductivity property and are widely used in solid electrolytic capacitor, plastic antistatic coating and photographic film etc. (1)Applications in solid electrolytic capacitor The success in development of PEDT accelerates the development of organic solidelectrolytic capacitor. PEDT has been used successfully in solid electrolytic capacitor and promoted the commercialization of solid electrolytic capacitor.PEDT has following properties when it is used in electrolytic capacitor 1) Simplified technology, easy to be achieved by few steps, need no degradation under high temperature, saving energy. It is easy to choose doping reagent of EDT. The EDT has good penetrability. It’s monomer can be polymerized even in small holes and can not form compound of nitrogen and oxygen. 2) Convenience in application: PEDT film can bind strongly with Aluminumof Tantalum foil which result in low Equivalent Series Resistance and high frequency properties. (2)Applications in antistatic coating Another important application of PEDT is that in antistatic coating. PEDT/PSS coating is very stable under moist condition. Compare with other conducting polymer, the PEDT/PSS coating has properties of anti hydrolyzation, light resistant and hightemperature resistant. These properties meet well the requirements of antistatic coatingIn addition, the surface resistance of doped PEDT can be up to 107Ω/m2. SothedopedPEDT has great potential in development of antistatic~200 coating. Further, PEDThas promising applications in Through Hole Wiring Board Coating, CRT coating, plasticantistatic coating, transducer, rechargeable battery, photodiode and etc.Conclusion:PEDT and its derivatives are excellent conductivity and high stability polymer. Theyare used successfully in solidelectrolytic capacitor and antistatic coating and bringthe development of conducting polymer.
