The lacquerware is typical of stable quality,light weight,elegant and diverse decoration, vivid color,water-proof, resistant to heat, acid and alkali, and its color and luster are highly durable. All of these depend on their special workmanship.As the combination between bodiless and lacquer,the production for bodiless lacquerware is really meticulous.From the material selection, molding,laquer decoration to the end product,every piece of the product need lots of complicated processes. Manufacture and dry in the shade cost lots of time.Therefore,the accomplishment usually asks for several months and the end product shall be kept in chamber for a long time for the drying.
The bodiless lacquerware starts with a body of clay,plaster or wood.Grass linen or silk is pasted onto it,layer after layer,with lacquer as the binder.The original body is removed after the outer cloth shell has dried in the shade.It is then smoothed with pulty,polished,and coated with layers of lacquer.After being carved with colorful patterns,it becomes extremely light.The colorful bodiless lacquerware then is finished.
