As a necessary amino acids to human and animal life, L-tryptophan plays an important role in metabolism, thus it is referred as the second necessary amino acid. It is widely used in medicine, food, feed and so on.
Limitation
Accounted for 1.6% of the total protein weight in food (FDA, §172.320, 1994).
