China [CN] Deter insulin is another new type of soluble long-acting human insulin analogue following insulin glargine. Developed by NovoNordisk, it was launched in Europe in 2004 and approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Deter insulin is a modification of the structure of human insulin. It removes threonine at position 30 of the B chain and attaches 14-carbon fatty acids to lysine at position 29 of the B chain. Two structural changes make it easier for the insulin monomer to self-form a hexamer. Additionally, the connection of myristic acid to the lysine at position 29 of the B chain enhances its binding ability to albumin, allowing it to be released slowly after entering the body without affecting its hypoglycemic effect. Deter insulin has good solubility. After dissolution, it becomes neutral and remains in a solution state even after injection and administration.
