Aluminum Hydroxide Flame Retardant:

Aluminum hydroxide serves as an effective flame-retardant filler, primarily comprising Al (OH)3. This white micro powder exhibits no secondary pollution, rendering it an environmentally benign inorganic flame retardant. Aluminum hydroxide confers flame retardancy, smoke suppression, filling properties, antistatic characteristics, and more to products. Notably, it offers advantages such as cost-effectiveness, high performance, stability, non-volatility, non-corrosiveness to equipment, and a high decomposition temperature.

With an initial decomposition temperature of around 205ºC, aluminum hydroxide flame retardant emits significant water vapor upon heating. This vapor stores heat, diluting the concentration of combustible gases in polymers. Moreover, it forms a non-combustible barrier between the ignition source and the matrix material, achieving flame retardance. Additionally, serving as a smoke suppressant, the released gas, being water vapor, poses no corrosion risk to metals.

The flame retardant efficacy of aluminum hydroxide undergoes enhancement post-activation treatment. For instance, the standard dosage of untreated 1-micron aluminum hydroxide ranges from 30-40%, whereas it can be increased to approximately 50% after activation treatment.
