Pigmentation Removal - Wrinkle Laser Machine - Scar removal

Melanin is the natural pigment in the body that gives color to hair, skin and eyes. Hyperpigmentation or brown spots occur when the skin cells that produce melanin are activated either from being damaged or because they are unhealthy. However, there are different kinds of hyperpigmentation:

1. Freckles

• Small, ranging from 1 to 2 millimeters
• Appears usually on the face, back and shoulders
• Caused by a combination of genetics and sun exposure
• Grows more prominent as you age

2. Lengitine / Sun spots

• Round or oval patches that make skin tone look uneven
• Often appears on the face, hands and shoulders
• Caused by sun exposure

3. Melasma

• Appears on cheeks or forehead, usually in one’s mid 30s
• Three types: epidermal (superficial), dermal (deeper) and mixed (both superficial and deep).
• Caused usually by a mix of different factors

• Sun exposure

4. Hori’s Macule

• One of the most common but under-diagnosed pigmentation problems
• Bean-sized discolorations that can appear brown or dark blue
• Mostly occurs in women starting in their 30s
• Responds only to laser.

5. Post-inflammatory Hyper-pigmentation (PIH)

• Light to dark brown pigmentation patch
• Usually appears after acne or heat injury
• Common among Asians with pigmented or dark skin
• Becomes harder to treat with creams as you age

6. Dark circles

• Dark, brown or bluish circles under the eyes
• Caused by the light reflecting on capillaries and veins under the skin or tear trough depression
• Looks more prominent as skin becomes thinner

7. Age spots / Seborrheic keratosis

• Dark spots that appear on the face and body
• Appear in one’s 60s
