Degarelix

Degarelix is a medication used to treat advanced prostate cancer in adults. It works by blocking gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptors in the pituitary gland, which rapidly reduces testosterone levels without causing the initial testosterone surge seen with some other treatments. Given as a subcutaneous injection, common side effects include injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling), hot flashes, and increased liver enzymes.
