Calcium Propionate
China [CN] Calcium propionate is a safe and reliable fungicide for food and feed approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Calcium propionate, like other fats, can be absorbed by humans and animals through metabolism and provide essential calcium for them. This advantage is unmatched by other fungicides and is regarded as GRAS. The calcium propionate produced by our company is made from high-purity imported propionic acid and ionic membrane liquid caustic soda as raw materials, with stable quality. Due to its high-temperature resistance, its anti-corrosion effect is superior to other products. Calcium propionate is an acid-type food preservative. Under acidic conditions, it generates free propionic acid, which has antibacterial effects. Its antibacterial effect is affected by the pH value of the environment, and the inhibitory effect on mold is the best when the pH value is 5.0. When the pH value is 6.0, the antibacterial ability is significantly reduced, and the minimum antibacterial concentration is 0.01%.
