The drill rod is the part that links the drill bit and the shank adapter in the rock drill and undertakes the task of transmitting the impact energy to the drill bit, the rotational torque, and the flushing medium. In actual use, the force conditions of the drill rod are harsh, and it is easy to consume a large number of wearing parts.

Drill rods include tapered drill rods and threaded extension rods according to their connection methods.

Tapered drill rod: It is suitable for drilling shallow holes, the tail is connected with the rock drill using the shank adapter, and the tapered part of the head is connected with the drill bit.

Threaded extension rods: It is more suitable for drilling deep holes. It can use a sleeve with female threads to connect two drill rods with male threads. With the deepening of the hole depth, multiple drill rods can be connected. It is very convenient to remove the rod from the connection after chiseling.

Except by connection type, drill rods include light drill rods and heavy drill rods.

Light drill rods include tapered drill rods, shank rods, and integral drill rods.

Heavy drill rods mainly include drill rods used for drifting and tunneling rigs, benching drilling rigs, and Open-cutting drilling rigs.

Length

Light drill rods: 300mm-6000mm(without shank, the conventional length of the shank is 108mm).

Heavy drill rods: 600mm-2000mm(Drill rods less than five meters are available).
