High Efficiency Deep Cone Thickener Waste Water Clarification Summary The high-rate Cone Thickener is widely used to thicken a tailings stream to non-settling paste at solids concentrations approaching that of a filter cake. Design characteristics of the Deep Bed result in maximum water recovery, maximum underflow density, and paste with minimal slump. How deep cone thickener works? An extra heavy-duty high torque drive powers the raking mechanism without the need of a rake lift. Process controls allow the thickener to achieve the desired underflow density and overflow clarity with the minimum flocculant dosage. The high-rate Thickeners separate liquids from solids using hindered settling. Rotating rake arms collect settled sludge and move it toward the center discharge cone. They use minimal amounts of polymers/chemicals in order to drop the solids, making it environmentally friendly. Features Each system includes point level pressure sensors to accurately track sludge level and density. Touch-screen PLCs run the system and log data such as feed rate, pH, sludge level and solids concentration. Hydraulic drives are able to give excellent indication of torque on pickets, and underflow discharge may be set to activate based on sludge density, downstream demand, sludge level or simple timers.
