Silos used in the concrete industry are usually defined by buckets. This name refers to the quantity of material when the silo is loaded. It is defined as 4 cubic feet of a given material. To convert the value to the weight or weight of the material that can be maintained, you must know the weight (mass) of each cubic foot. Since the cement is usually pneumatically loaded, the amount of air accumulated in the cement must be taken into account in order to avoid excessive filling of the silo.
The following data can be used to determine the amount of material bin required.
1 Barrel of Cement = 300 lbs of blown in, or “fluffed” cement.
200 Barrel Silo – Loaded Capacity of 60,000 lbs / 30 tons
300 Barrel Silo – Loaded Capacity of 90,000 lbs / 45 tons
