The Sunflower kernel accounts for 70% of the seed and the oil content is about 40%-45% in the seeds. The whole sunflower oil plant contains three workshops: 

1. Sunflower oil press workshop introduction:

It is necessary for hulling the sunflower seeds before pressing, so it could reduce the wax content of final oil, which is bad for human. 

Cleaning process: In order to obtain high effective cleaning, ensure good work condition and production stability, high efficient vibration screen was used in the process to 

separate big and small impurity. Suction type gravity stoner removing machine was applied to remove the shoulder stone and earth, and magnetic separation equipment without power

 and exhaust system were used to remove iron. Dust removing wind net is installed.  

Softening process: with YPHW series horizontal softening pot, material enters softening drum through feeding auger, and turns over with the rotating drum. The rotating drum is equipped with 

heating tube, and there is steam in the tube. When material turns over continuously with the rotating drum, soy is heated to 50-70℃ and is fully softened, which can improve soy plasticity, make germ flake thin and burly and improve extraction effect. In addition, the rotating drum has the inclination of high feed end

 and low discharge end. According to material softening conditions, regulate the rotating speed of drum to control the .

Flaking Process: hydraulic compact roller flaker is used to ensure thin and uniform flake, with high toughness and small powder.

Prepressing:squeeze out some of the oil from the high-oil materials, such as sunflower seed , rapeseed to meet the following cake extraction requirements. 

The dry cake is loose-structured and not broken, easy for solvent permeability, with low residual oil and low running cost.

2.Sunflower oil extraction workshop introduction: 

The second way to extract oil for using chemical solvent to dissolve oil content contained in cake or direct oil seeds, only for lower oil seeds, for example soybean. 

Then oil is separated from solvent by vaporizing solvent out. In configuring the solvent extraction plant, pre-pressing may be involved in which case seeds are lightly pressed, and which leaves about 14% to 18% oil in the pressed cake. 

Solvent extraction will further process these cakes and leave less than 1% oil in the final cake. This method results in higher yields, more oil; Lower power consumption, 

lower wear & tear / maintenance and high extract efficiency. 

Thus it could be used as complement equipment to extract the oil remained in cake, which yields are extra profits. Certainly if the capacity is less than 50 tons, 

or it is high rate of output oil, this process could be saved.

 3. Sunflower oil refining workshop introduction: 

The crude vegetable oil from above mentioned two ways of extracting, oil pressing and/or solvent extraction, will be pumped into oil refinery units to produce cooking oil at various grades. 

The main equipment of oil refinery is various kinds of vessels and tanks carrying on different tasks with additives. 

These tasks may include sedimentation/filtering, neutralization (removing free fatty acid), degumming, decolorization (bleaching), deodorization, especially the dewaxing process is necessary, 

more wax would destroy the quality of sunflower oil.

 By-Products from sunflower seed oil plant 

The by-product from the oil press and solvent extraction process is sunflower seed meal. The meal could be used as animal feed with pelleting machinery, especially for chicken, cow, 

sheep and fish, or source material for the other way of extraction. You can get soapstock from oil refining process. Soapstock is the source material for laundry soap with soap 

making machinery and washing detergent. 

 Good Choice of Sunflower Oil :

 Cooking with refined sunflower oil 

One of the benefits of sunflower oil is that it is extremely light in flavor, so the oil doesn't overpower the rest of a dish's ingredients. This light flavor is perfect in simple pasta dishes, 

including shrimp and broccoli pasta, and pastas using simple garlic or lemon sauces. To make shrimp and broccoli pasta, saute shrimp in a large skillet using 2 tbsp of sunflower oil. 

Once the shrimp are cooked, add cooked pasta, steamed broccoli, 3 tbsp. of sunflower oil, salt, pepper and crushed red pepper flakes. Saute on medium heat for two minutes or 

until all ingredients are combined.

Frying with refined sunflower oil

Because sunflower oil is low in saturated fat, many use the oil for frying. Unlike canola oil,which is high in saturated fat, sunflower oil is composed of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, 

making it a much healthier alternative. Use sunflower oil to fry potato skins, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, chicken or seafood. Use a simple batter made with flour, egg and water, or bread and 

cracker crumbs. Heat sunflower oil in medium pot or fryer, dip products in and remove once the batter is brown and crispy. Allow to cool, and enjoy.

Baking with refined sunflower oil

Sunflower oil can also be used as a healthier alternative to traditional baking fats, including butter, margarine and vegetable shortening. Next time you bake, use sunflower oil to reduce 

the amount of saturated fat in your cookies, brownies and cakes. One cup of butter, margarine or vegetable shortening is equivalent to 3/4 cup of sunflower oil, and 1/2 cup

 is equivalent to 1/3 cup of sunflower oil.
